Gift Of Gab
Project: Gift of Gab
Company: In-Toto Theatre
A class of KS2 children will spend two sessions creating their own modern ballads or story-poems alongside a professional poet local to the area of SE16. That is, they will be offered writing sessions creating poems with a form (a beginning, middle and end) involving dialogue, characterisation, plot as well as a setting and possibly a rhyming structure.
A further two sessions will then be offered for the telling and re-telling of these narrative poems as well as in dramatising and physicalising them to the rest of the group or class. Included here will be the making of video and aural sound recordings of the poems.
The project will culminate in a day spent with a selected group at the Canada Water Library with a designer and volunteers where we will make a display of our word play, stories and pictures in the form of an installation, alongside with our sound recordings of the poems being performed and recited.

Number of participants: Up to 30 children in the class
Dates: One workshop each week of the Festival, final session at Canada Water Library on Friday 9 December
