Festivals
The STEP Festival is the highlight of the STEP Year-Long Programme. The jam-packed fortnight in November offers a diverse programme of free events, performances and workshops to all schools in Southwark, all made available by STEP and its many partner organisations. The Festival is an annual opportunity to celebrate theatre created by, with and for young people in Southwark.
STEP Festival activities cover the entire spectrum of the performing arts including drama and theatre, multicultural storytelling, dance, performance poetry, puppetry and mime, film, music and theatre criticism.
The Festival kicks off with an Opening Event for all STEP partners: an opportunity to find out more about the Festival and see short performances from some of the companies delivering projects. The Festival is rounded off by the STEP Youth Theatre Showcase, presenting work from some of Southwark’s youth theatre groups and encouraging more young people from Southwark to get involved in youth theatre activities.
