Chinese dragons and costumes galore at The Scoop
In June this year, the Steam Industry Free Theatre made use of the extensive international collection of costumes and artefacts from the SCAS collection, ranging from Chinese dragons to Indian saris and Japenese kimonos.
The project brings together students from Southwark primary and secondary schools in a large-scale ensemble performance at The Scoop at More London. This year Grange, St George's Cathedral and Bessemer Grange Primary Schools participated, along with students from Harris Academy Bermondsey. The project is the culmination of several months of hard work and dedication from the Steam Industry's practitioners, as well as the teachers and young people involved and this year's performance (the eighth STEP Out! project) was better than ever. The addition of the SCAS costumes was a new and exciting addition to a very successful project and added to the children and young people's experience of performing.
